Akil Gibbons is an Emmy nominated award-winning film director and producer whose works have debuted at Sundance and distributed by HBO, BET, CNN, VICE, The Daily Show, Netflix, Paramount, Amazon, and through his own company CoINTEL Productions (CoINTELPRO).

His film work as a director and producer continues to create impactful stories for studios, networks, and brands. Akil’s directing for brand campaigns include De Beers Diamonds, Google, Mastercard, AT&T, Square, LinkedIn, Udemy, and more.

Akil directed and produced the pilot episode for HBO's Level Playing Field earning an Emmy nomination in 2022 for Outstanding Series and produced Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words for Amazon Prime and Roc Nation. His newest television work in 2025 is story producing a 5 episode series with ITVS/PBS directed by Darius Clark Monroe and called the “Dallas, 2019” and directed and executive produced an upcoming project entitled “Gonzovision”.
